Dr. Moses Ocan is the Principal Investigator of the MakRIF Covid-19 grant awarded to the Africa Centre for Systematic Reviews and Knowledge Translation (Africa Centre, MakCHS). Dr. Ocan is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics and Co-Director at Africa Centre, MakCHS.

Cognizant of the Covid-19 “info-demic”, there is a “Know-do-gap” in sub-Saharan Africa that the Africa Centre, MakCHS intends to bridge using a responsive knowledge translation model. Africa Centre, MaKCHS employs innovative informative technology platforms to identify, appraise and synthesize contextualized research evidence on COVID-19 to guide decision-making in Uganda and East Africa including Evidence & Gap Maps. Mr Ash Luwambo will provide IT support.

Dr Ekwaro Obuku is the convener of CoVPRES (Covid19 Pandemic Rapid Evidence Synthesis Group). Under this grant, CoVPRES will mentor four Graduate Fellows, Ms. Rachael Wangi, Ms. Regina Ndagire and Mr Kevin Ojambo (Makerere University, Clinical Epidemiology Unit); and Dr. Brenda Kawala (Gothenburg University, Sweden) in public policy through evidence synthesis and stakeholder engagement. Public engagement will be in collaboration with THRiVE, MakCHS.
